Gloves for Laboratory Work: Protection, Feel and Clean Results

In a lab the glove protects the person and the sample. How to balance touch, strength and cleanliness.

In a laboratory the glove works in both directions. It keeps chemicals and samples off the skin, and it keeps skin oils, salts and particles out of the sample. The second job is easy to forget until a contaminated result has to be repeated.

Touch against strength

Thin gloves make fine work easier: pipetting, handling slides, adjusting an instrument. Our glove is 4.0 mil, which gives good touch sensitivity for precise work. Change it promptly if it snags.

Chemical splash protection

Nitrile resists many oils, acids and alkalis better than latex or vinyl. A thin disposable glove is splash protection, not immersion protection: if a chemical gets on the glove, change it. Always check the chemical’s safety data sheet for the glove material it calls for.

Clean results

For trace analysis, microscopy and quality-control work, a cleanroom-grade glove reduces the particles and residues the glove itself brings to the bench. Our Class 1000 glove suits most laboratory cleanrooms and controlled benches; choose Class 100 where the room is classified to that level.

Fit

A glove that fits makes every task easier and tears less often. Ours come in S, M and L with palm widths of 85, 95 and 105 mm.

Not sure which glove fits your process? Tell us your cleanroom class and we will recommend one, or see the full specification on the Products page.
